Come to this neighborhood meeting to learn more about recent crime trends in the neighborhood, as well as crime prevention tips and information.<!--more-->Wednesday, November 30th, 7:00 pm<br \/>\nWestern District Police Department<br \/>\n389 Hamline Avenue north<br \/>\n(Across from Super Target)<\/p>\n<p>Please pass this information along to your neighbors and anyone you think may be interested in attending!<\/p>\n<h2>Update<\/h2>\n<p>Afton Martens shared the following three documents for those who could not get to the meeting\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.clst.org\/calmlincoln\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2011\/12\/November-2011-Crimes.pdf\" title=\"November 2011 Crimes.pdf\">map of 2011 crimes (PDF)<\/a> that SPPD Commander Matt Toupal shared of garage and residential burglaries in Mac-Grove (the dark dots indicate burglaries &#8211; there were 6 garage burglaries and 14 residential burglaries)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calmlincoln.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Saint-Paul-Police-Crime-Prevention-Programs.pdf\" title=\"Saint Paul Police Crime Prevention Programs.pdf\">Saint Paul Police Crime Prevention Programs (PDF)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wp.clst.org\/calmlincoln\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2011\/12\/Crime-Prevention-Info.pdf\" title=\"Crime Prevention Info.pdf\">Crime Prevention Info from the Community Council (PDF)<\/a>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Commander Toupal had included these tips in his presentation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Know who (of your neighbors) is home during the day &#8211; look out for one another.<\/li>\n<li>Call, call, call &#8211; a &#8220;suspicious person&#8221; is a raised priority for police calls.<\/li>\n<li>Work with district councils. Stay connected &#8211; pass these email notifications from the Macalester-Groveland Community Council along to neighbors!<\/li>\n<li>Serial numbers &#8211; have serial numbers on expensive items (snow blowers, bikes, tools, etc.). This will help the police connect these items back to their rightful owner if recovered.<\/li>\n<li>Remove personal items from your car (before you reach your destination).<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t leave your car parked outside your garage with the door opener in it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The emergency number is, as always, 9-1-1.
